What are your products made of?                                                                                                                                  back to topÈ
Number 1 Plastics#1 Plastics - PET or PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
PET plastic is the most common for single-use bottled beverages and food, because it is inexpensive, lightweight and easy to recycle. It poses low risk of leaching breakdown products.

People in Plastic PET products: Jars and round containers.

Number 2 Plastics#2 Plastics - HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
HDPE is a versatile plastic which is used particularly for packaging. It carries low risk of leaching and is readily recyclable into many products. Most of our products are made from HDPE.

People in Plastic HDPE products: Bottles, jerry cans, cubes, carboys, drums, fuel cans and most cubes and pails.

Number 4 Plastics#4 Plastics - LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene)
LDPE is a flexible plastic with many applications, most commonly used to make squeezable bottles and plastic bags. Historically it has not been recycled as much as other plastics, however, this is changing over time.

People in Plastic LDPE products: Some small pails, honey skep and teddy bear.

Number 5 Plastics#5 Plastics - PP (Polypropylene)
PP is a flexible plastic with a high melting point, and so is often chosen for containers that must accept hot liquid. It is gradually being recycled more and more.

People in Plastic PP products: Some pails and crates (new and regrind).

People in Plastic wear, but do not sell any products made from #3 Plastics (Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC). Some of our product accessories are made from #6 Plastics (Polystyrene), such as micro bin dividers.

Do you sell glass products?                                                                                                        back to topÈ
No

Do you sell metal products?
We sell 20L open and closed head metal drums only.

Are your products food grade?
Yes, our bottles, pails, cubes, jerry cans, drums, jugs, jars and square and round containers are made from new plastic and are approved for the use of food.

Most crates are also approved, however, we do stock some crates that contain recycled plastic and are, therefore, not food grade (they are generally black and noted as ‘regrind'). Only natural wheelie bins may be used for food. We recommend that metal pails be lined before storing food.

Are your products dangerous goods approved?
Yes, we sell a range of jerry cans, cubes and drums that are dangerous goods approved, as well as a range of ‘safe seal' pails. These products are made from a very high density molecule HDPE and are stamped with a warning that the container holds dangerous goods. It is required by law to keep some chemicals in dangerous goods approved packaging.

Are your products UV Protected?
Dangerous goods approved products are UV protected, including DG cubes, drums and ‘safe seal' pails. Most crates are also made with UV Protected plastic.

What is the difference between a keg, a carboy and a drum?
These terms can be used interchangeably; different terms tend to be used in different industries.

Most of our customers refer to smaller drums (30L to 60L) as carboys. These have an open head, i.e. a large screw on lid with a gasket for a good seal.

Larger containers (120L to 200L) are mostly referred to as drums. We sell both open and closed head drums. Large open head drums have a lid the size of the top of the drum which are sealed with a locking band. The large closed head drums have two 58mm openings in the top.

What is the difference between a jerry can and a cube?
Jerry cans are rectangular in shape. They have a handle at the top and a 38mm opening. We sell jerry cans ranging in size from 1L to 10L.

Cubes are square in shape, or cubic. They have a handle on top and a 58mm opening. We sell cubes ranging in size from 10L to 25L.

What is the difference between a bucket and a pail?
Good question! These terms are generally used interchangeably. Pail is the term that tends to be used by industry.

We sell a wide range of white and natural industrial pails ranging from 1L to 25L. We also sell a smaller range of top quality industrial ‘buckets'. They are sometimes referred to as ‘nappy pails' and we sell them in three sizes - 13L, 18L and 22L.

We do not sell general household use buckets such as those that may be found in supermarkets.         back to topÈ
